At Shared Tomorrows Community Foundation, we believe meaningful change happens when communities come together to support one another. We partner with nonprofit organizations that are working every day to improve the lives of individuals and families in our communities.

Our grant program is designed to support small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with our commitment to strengthening communities. Through twice-yearly grant opportunities, Shared Tomorrows provides funding to organizations focused on human services for seniors and youth, food insecurity, health and wellness, education, cultural arts, and recreational therapy for individuals with disabilities.

We value the important role nonprofits play in creating stronger, healthier, and more connected communities. Through our grantmaking, we seek to build lasting partnerships with organizations that share our commitment to serving others and creating meaningful community impact.

Grant Eligibility

Shared Tomorrows Community Foundation supports nonprofit organizations that align with our mission and funding priorities. Eligible organizations must:

Hold current 501(c)(3) status and have operated for a minimum of three years.
Align with our focus areas, including education, wellness, and cultural vitality.
Be located in or provide services within a 10-mile radius of Birmingham, Michigan.
Have annual revenues between $300,000 and $5,000,000.

Shared Tomorrows may also establish or host endowment funds for eligible nonprofit organizations, including schools and faith-based organizations.

Grant Evaluation

Grant applications are reviewed by the Shared Tomorrows Grants Committee, comprised of trained community volunteers with knowledge and experience in community needs and nonprofit organizations.

The committee conducts a thoughtful and impartial review of each application, considering factors such as organizational leadership, financial responsibility, program effectiveness, community impact, and alignment with the Foundation’s priorities.

Grant recipients will be asked to provide a brief report approximately one year after receiving an award, describing how grant funds were used and the impact of the support on their organization and the community.

Nonprofit Learning & Resources

Shared Tomorrows Community Foundation is committed to helping strengthen the nonprofit organizations that serve our communities. We are developing opportunities for nonprofit leaders to connect, learn, and access resources that support effective leadership, organizational growth, and community impact.

We welcome input from nonprofit leaders on topics that would be valuable for future workshops, webinars, and community conversations. Suggested topics may include board development, fundraising, strategic planning, financial sustainability, and other challenges facing nonprofit organizations.
